Malecon 2000, Guayaquil

4.5
Must see · Pier / Boardwalk · Tourist Spot
A model of urban regeneration, Malecon 2000 provides a wide range of attractions and entertainment options along the Guayas River. Once little more than a pathway, the boardwalk fell into disrepair in the 20th century before its re-inauguration as a public space in 1999. Wander along the 2.5 km (1.5 mi) waterfront packed with monuments, historical buildings, gardens, museums, and more. Afterwards, kick back with a drink or a bite to eat at one of the many food courts, bars, and cafes scattered along its length, or simply find a comfortable green space and people-watch. • Oh, that's an interesting place. You may walk along the ocean shore watching the water carrying thousands of patches of plants on one side and creative artifacts on the other. The walking boardwalk is neat and nicely designed. At some point, you may enter a shopping center with dozens of shops and entertaining rooms. All are clean and neat. If it's not enough for you, there are hundreds of smaller shops on the other side of the street.
  • It's a famous touristic place where you can walk safely because is security controlled... it has La Perla a famous roller and the biggest of south America, it takes 12 minutes approximately to turn around goes very slow and you can have a beautiful view of part of Guayaquil and take nice pictures!
