Fort Shirley, Dominica

#1 of 6 in Historic Sites in Dominica
Must see · Historic Site · Tourist Spot
One of Dominica's most important historical sites, Fort Shirley invites you to step back in time and relive the island's turbulent history. Erected during the French and Indian War, the fort has endured its fair share of turmoil, and has changed owners many times. Walk around the grounds to find old rusted cannons, restored cannons looking over the bay, restored walls, and an old tap. Follow up with a visit to one of the many trails located just behind the fort. Find old ruins including the house of one of the old commanders of the fort. Plan my Toucari trip by asking Inspirock to come up with tips and suggestions.

  • Very nice place for easy hike with interesting historical and biological facts. Some view points were covered by high trees, so there was no view at all, but that's the nature.
  • Not much to see in the fort. There is a nice trail though.
