Mons Klint, Moen

4.7
#1 of 69 in Nature in Denmark
Made of the remains of shells from millions of microscopic sea creatures, Mons Klint fall 120 m (394 ft) to the sea below. The cliffs emerged at the end of the Ice Age about 11,000 years ago. Marked paths help walkers, riders, and cyclists discover the surroundings. Vantage points along the edge offer views of the sea. Take the stairs to get to the beach. Look for fossils and ambers along the shore, and watch for orchids under the stairs. The cliffs are home to the peregrine falcon, the world's fastest bird, and the rare large blue butterfly. Visit the 18th century park at the northern end of the cliffs that features small houses, ponds, and rolling lawns. Our Moen tour app makes visiting Mons Klint and other Moen attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

  • It is incredibly beautiful view up from and when you have come down to the beach. The walk up again is tough. You don't have to do a leg training the day before. But it's worth the trip.

  • One of the most important places in this part of Denmark. Impressive views and views of the chalk cliffs in beautiful weather. Unlike other beautiful places what is cultivated in the routes, but not bothersome. We imagined ourselves at the Mediterranean Sea: Azure blue Sea, blue skies and warmth! Beautiful!

  • A bit disappointed by this place, as you walk on the cliffs you don't really get to see them from a nice point of view. A few nice points. Might be better to go on a sunny day!
  • Møns Klint is a breathtaking natural scenery. It is really worth the 90 minutes drive from Copenhagen. The chalk cliffs are best visited in the morning, when the sun shines on the cliffs. If you have time, take a hike through the woods to the cliffs edge. Otherwise drive straight ahead to the GeoCenter, where there is an exhibition, shop / cafe and paid parking space. At the GeoCenter is the access to the stairway all the way down the cliff to the shore for the best views. The shore is pebbly. The stairway has close to 500 steps. So wear proper shoes and be prepared to walk all the stairs back up.
