Nordsoen Oceanarium, Hirtshals

#1 of 9 in Things to do in Hirtshals
Aquarium · Zoo / Aquarium
Visit the biggest aquarium in Northern Europe, Nordsoen Oceanarium, where you can see seals, cod, seabass, and schooling fish. The center tank can hold 4,500,000 litres (1,189,00 gallons) of water. It was built to imitate the open sea so that many of the species of fish could live comfortably. There are also habitat tanks that recreate habitats certain fish need to survive, and a seal pool where you can see the harbor seal and gray seal. Informational TV screens are set up throughout that give information about the specific fish--be aware, though, that presentations are in Danish. Children can draw and paint in one of the play areas. If you want to see one of the feedings, check the schedule in advance on the website. Nordsoen Oceanarium is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our , custom trip planner Edition.
