We happened upon this beautifully maintained mill as we wandered back roads. You have to walk a little way to get to it and as far as we could tell, there was no real parking to be had anywhere... more »

Torkilstrup Mølle er af de meget få stubmøller i Danmark, som er bevaret på sin oprindelige plads. Ifølge vindfløjen og en udskæring inde i selve møllen stammer den fra 1743. I skriftlige kilder nævnes den imidlertid allerede i 1655. I slutningen af 1940’erne tog en kreds af egnens beboere initiativ til en omfattende istandsættelse. Møllen blev overdraget kommunen i 1954, og den er i dag fredet.

Torkilstrup Mølle is of the very few stubble mills in Denmark, which is preserved in its original place. According to the wind wing and a cutout inside the mill itself, it dates from 1743. However, in written sources it is already mentioned in 1655. In the late 1940s, a circle of residents of the region took the initiative for extensive refurbishment. The mill was handed over to the municipality in 1954, and today it is protected.
