At Royal Library (Kongelige Bibliotek), discover numerous historic treasures, such as a collection of books by Carl Linné, the manuscripts and correspondence of H.C. Andersen, and the S. Kierkegaard archives. All known Danish printed works--from the very first Danish book printed in 1482--are featured in the library's five buildings, including the new one called "the black diamond." You need to cross one of the three bridges to get from one building to the other. Observe the central hall of the old building, which is a copy of Charlemagne's Palace chapel in the Aachen Cathedral. • The royal library known as "The Black Diamond" is both beautiful on the inside and on the outside. The water reflection can be seen from the opposite side of the canal on the circle bridge. It has a small café as well as a shop and sometimes several interesting exhibitions.
  • A really nice library architecturally both from the outside and inside. Locally known as the Black Diamond, this is really a diamond for the Copenhagen Architecture scene in my view. A really beautiful building especially on Nice sunset days when the sparkling water reflects in the windows. Go inside a well. It's free and the atrium looking out over the water is awesome. The old library area is also nice to walk into. Just be quiet as it is a working library.
