St. Vitus Cathedral, Prague

Prague's finest example of Gothic architecture, St. Vitus Cathedral is the resting place of many saints, kings, princes, and archbishops. Located within the city's World Heritage-listed castle complex, the cathedral notably contains 14th-century mosaics and stained glass by artist Alfons Mucha. The biggest and most ornate of the cathedral's many side chapels features medieval frescoes depicting scenes from the life of Christ, as well as a hidden staircase leading to a chamber housing priceless Bohemian crown jewels. You may not be able to see the real jewels, which are famously protected by seven locks, but you can reward yourself with panoramic views of the city from the cathedral's south tower. • The truth is that it is very beautiful and curious because of the place where it is. You can visit the fundamentals and not have to pay entrance. With the free tour more than enough.

  • To be seen both from the outside and inside not to be missed. the whole "Castle" area where it is included takes about 1/2 day for a full visit

  • Exceptional stained glass. Several of the murals show local history. Sunday mass is held at 830a and 1000a. Mass is given in Latin on the last Sunday of the month. To enter for mass, you will need to ask the groundsmen for permission to enter at the leftmost doorway (which is marked as the "Exit" of the tourist circuit). Many tourist will be gathered taking snapshots of the facade. After mass you can walk around briefly for sightseeing. The organ will continue playing for about 10 minutes after mass.
  • One of the most beautiful buildings I've ever seen! The interior has some wonderful stained glass but is very busy and full of tours. It is very difficult to walk around the church without being stuck between people taking photos everywhere. (In summer holidays) The fee to enter is okay, a little high. Amazing building though!
