Letna Park, Prague

#4 of 45 in Parks in Prague
Park · Hidden Gem · Nature / Park
Ride the oldest carousel in Europe at Letna Park, and then look for the marble pedestal with a metronome that used to be the base of a large statue of Stalin. Another notable features is a cast-iron pavilion in Neo-Baroque style built for the 1891 World Fair. The park, built on a plateau above steep riverbanks, offers commanding views of the old town. Look for a plain next to the park; that's where people demonstrated against the communist government during the Velvet Revolution in 1989. Stop for a drink at the beer garden, a shady area with lots of picnic tables and a small playground.
