History and theater buffs won't want to miss Teatro La Caridad, a colonial provincial theater built in the late 19th century. Though it boasts an attractive, ornately carved neoclassical exterior, the building really comes into its own once you step inside. Head to the interior to see the semicircular auditorium's three gilded tiers and intricate marble statues. Look up to admire the opulent painted ceiling by prominent artist Camilo Zalaya.
