Puente de Bacunayagua, Matanzas

4.5
Puente de Bacunayagua stands as Cuba's longest and highest bridge and marks the border between the Havana and Matanzas provinces. The design is an ingenious example of Cuban civil engineering due to the unconventional terrain on which it was built. The bridge stretches 314 m (1,030 ft) over a lush green mountain valley and stands 103 m (338 m) tall. Take in views of the Valle del Yumuri and the sea, and marvel at birds flying even lower then the bridge itself, and wild palms appearing as tiny shrubbery. Have some food at the bridge restaurant, a favorite stopping point for tour buses and taxis. Put Puente de Bacunayagua and other Matanzas attractions into our Matanzas trip itinerary builder app, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • The Mother-in-law bridge, as our guide called it, was fabulous. A bit crowded, and happy I had a driver to deal with the parking ...( Cost $0.25 to park) Laughed thinking of the guides pet name for it, and all the vultures circling in the valley.
