Church and Convent of St. Francis of Asisi, Havana

Admire the architecture and striking bell tower at Church and Convent of St. Francis of Asisi, a symbol of Havana's Franciscan order. Built in its present form in 1716, the current structure is a reconstruction of the original, which the Franciscans erected over a century earlier in 1591. Head inside to see the hulking statue of Jesus suspended over the altar, then climb up the tower stairs for views over town. Check the church's schedule of events ahead of arrival: the acoustics here make it well worth catching a concert if you can.
