Dvorac Belaj, Cerovlje

BELAJ is early Baroque Castle, Annexes and Vineyard situated in the hilly area of the North-Eastern part of Istrian peninsula, Croatia. Surrounded by the untouched nature it has one of the best views over The Učka ([ˈut͡ʃka],Monte Maggiore) mountain.

Castle Belaj is the Registered Historical Heritage of Croatia.

The first mentioning of the estate dates back to 1063 when the Istrian count Ulich Weimer took the area between Labin and Rijeka. Emperor Henrik thus donated several castles to the count including Bellai.

The Castle and Vineyard have always lived in a symbiosis and in past were ruled by noble families such as Guteneck, Moyses, Barbo and Auersperg.

In August 2017 it opened it doors to the public as a historic poit, restaurant and shop offering local foods and wine degustations for groups as well as individuals. It has also become a popular wedding and private event destination.
