In the mountains of Perez Zeledon, Samaritan Xocolata transforms Costa Rica’s Southern zone organic cacao into rich, dark, creamy, spicy, nut and fruit filled temptations of hand-crafted, fine artisan chocolate. The company has gone beyond its rustic roots, established in 2005 in rural Osa Peninsula, and now produces a wide range of bars and bonbons and other chocolate treats sold all around Costa Rica and internationally.
Our artisan chocolate is hand-crafted with the finest quality ecologically and socially conscious ingredients, sure to please the palate and heart of the chocolate connoisseur. Our high cacao content, 70% and above, along with our distinctive flavors and exclusive formula and process, make our products one of the finest choices in Costa Rican chocolate. Samaritan Xocolata uses a proprietary blend of some of Costa Rica's favorite flavors and premium ingredients from locally grown fruits, nuts, and spices to create our chocolates.
All of the cacao we use is organic, mostly Criollo strain, from small farms in the Southern Zone. Many of our other ingredients are organic and local as well; always the finest quality we can find. Our chocolate flavors and recipes are evolving all the time. The variety of herbs, spices, fruits, nuts and seeds is somewhat seasonal. No two batches are exactly the same.
Our organic cacao beans are hand selected for their flavour and processed carefully in small batches. We peel, sort, roast, grind, conch, and temper small batches of beans and then mold and package each bar and bonbon by hand. By sourcing high quality beans and carefully crafting small batches, we are able bring out the individual flavors and nuances of each harvest.
Samaritan Xocolata products are made fresh and contain no lecithin, preservatives or artificial flavors or colors. They should be stored in a cool dry place and enjoyed at room temperature. Do not freeze. MOST of our products are Vegan Friendly, Gluten, Soy and GMO free.

Great chocolate! I thought it was a little pricey for Costa Rica, but its home made and your supporting a local business. The little treats are (at the time I went) starting at 1,500 to I think 7,000 Costa Rican money. Really good. I had a chocolate covered Banana for 1,500. It was the best thing I've had in a long time, I ate it so fast I didn't even get to take a picture. Lol. Well worth the trip! Also where they are located is beautiful and they will let you look around the property as well.
The chocolate here, which is bean to bar, organic and vegan, is extremely good. My wife said it is the best chocolate she has ever had. I agree it was incredible. You can also get some ice cream and other treats here and it is sourced from Costa Rica so you are supporting the local chocolate makers. The only knocks is that it is quite expensive and that owner is not the most friendly person around. The chocolate is great though.
