The region's oldest settlement, Centro Historico Santa Fe de Antioquia retains the character and feel of a centuries old Colombian pueblo. Whitewash houses line the narrow cobblestone streets as you head towards the main plaza, the social center of the town. See the Puente de Occidente, a suspension bridge over the Cauca River and one of the longest in South America. Expect to feel the heat a bit more here as the town sits in a valley between the Cauca and the Tonuzco River. Head here from Medellin via the Tunel de Occidente, the largest tunnel in South America, making for a quick and easy day trip getaway.
