Mina de Sal de Nemocon, Nemocon

#2 of 49 in Parks in Cundinamarca Department
Must see · Cave · Nature / Park
The most memorable features of Mina de Sal de Nemocon include a natural mirror composed of old tanks filled with brine and a huge, heart-shaped salt crystal carved by the miner Miguel Sánchez in the 1960s. Walk through the 1.6 km (1 mi) of tunnels along the cascades of salt, and stalactites and stalagmites shaped as ferns, roots, bulbs, and snowflakes. See the "dancing room" with simple chandeliers, and the chapel with a massive sphere symbolizing the world carved in 1,300 kg (2,866 lb) of salt and a replica of the Virgin Mary and Jesus. Join workshops to learn how to make decorative pieces using a mixture of salt and flour, or how to paint with brine and oils. Make Mina de Sal de Nemocon a centerpiece of your Nemocon vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Nemocon tour itinerary planning app.

  • Definitely a must see. I recommend to pay and extra 80.000pesos to get a private tour. The whole thing lasts approx 90mins. Interesting underground scenery!  more »
  • Very Good alternative to a trip to Bogotá Sabana. You will have acces to a small natural history museum.  more »
