Travel to the heart of Amazon rainforest and observe various species of monkey at Isla de Los Micos. More than 5,000 monkeys from four species inhabit the forested area, alongside a number of birds and reptiles. In the 1960s, Mike Tsakilys created the 450 hectare (1111 acre) nature reserve for the protection and proliferation of our primate cousins. Activities within the reserve don’t simply revolve around guided tours of the monkeys' habitats; you can satisfy your urge for adventure by going canopy and tree climbing. Add Isla de Los Micos to your Leticia travel itinerary, and discover new vacation ideas by using our Leticia holiday planner.

  • It's rather a short stop, there are just one species of monkeys you can see. They start jumping between people, using them as trees in search for fruits. Be careful not to tray and grab one because they can bite and even steal some of your belongings
