Itagüí is a city of Colombia, located in the south of the Aburrá Valley in the Antioquia Department. It is part of The Metropolitan Area of the Aburrá Valley.DemographicsThe population at the 2005 census was 230,272. Its density is 17 km2.HistoryFounded in 1743, Itagüí was declared a municipality in 1832. Its name comes some historians of an indigenous chief named Bitagüí. One in the place of the Tablaza that had been owned by Bruno Saldarriaga, built thanks to the permission that the Bishop of Popayán Francisco José de Figueredo granted December 19, 1743.
