Ascend to the top of Monserrate, which towers over Bogota. From the summit--3,152 m (10,341 ft) above sea level--enjoy panoramic views of the city and the surrounding landscape. A 17th-century church perches atop the mountain, dedicated to El Señor Caído (The Fallen Lord), a name derived from a statue depicting Jesus after he was removed from the cross. Christians have used the site of the church as a place of worship since the 1620s, and it remains a popular destination for pilgrims. Nearby, various restaurants, cafes, and souvenir shops provide refreshments and shopping for religious visitors and tourists alike. Get to the top by cable car or funicular, or join those on pilgrimage and make the tough trek on foot. Be wary of overexerting yourself on the mountain, as the high altitude can have adverse effects. Going up there is easy and cheap in the gondola. Once up there you can oversee Bogota and just beautiful views. Loved the little market with all the authentic Colombian and Bogota stuff. There is a restaurant up there with good food and warm beverages as Bogota can be a bit "cold". This is a MUST DO when visiting Bogota. To keep in mind: Bogota is 8,660 feet above sea level, so take it easy on the hiking and walking if you're planning to walk up there.
Great views of the city!!! If you’re visiting Bogotá, this is absolutely a must!!! There are nice stores and little souvenir shops on the top. Love the city view from the top! Just as a suggestion, try to go there while the sky is clear for better views.
