Plaza San Nicolas, Barranquilla

#5 of 16 in Historic Sites in Barranquilla
Historic Walking Area · Hidden Gem · Tourist Spot
A visit to Barranquilla would feel incomplete without a visit to its social and cultural epicenter, Plaza San Nicolas--home to a magnificent church and a bustling market. The square and church underwent a comprehensive restoration from 2009 to 2011, breathing new life and color into the area. Marvel at the 18th-century church's ornate red and white facade, flanked by two towers. The market that takes place here is huge, vibrant, and full of affordable snacks and goods. Take a camera along to capture the renewed splendor of this plaza. To visit Plaza San Nicolas on your trip to Barranquilla, use our Barranquilla holiday planner.
