#1 of 305 in Things to do in Macau
Retrace Macau's Christian heritage at Ruins of St. Paul's, one of the region's landmark attractions. Built by the Portuguese in the 17th century, the church was originally one of the largest Christian shrines in Asia. A 19th-century fire destroyed much of the original complex, but the ornate southern facade still stands as a reminder of the building's former grandeur. A steel stairway provides visitors with access to the top, while the onsite museum houses artifacts providing insight into the history and art of Christian faith in the Far East. • Nice place to walk to and take photos. Classic place to go when visiting Macau, but if you've been there before, it wouldn't be t0o important to visit again. A few shops and restaurants within walking distance. Nearby coffee shops like Starbucks and Pacific Coffee have a decent view of the ruins.
  • Awesome place but too many people during peak period. The day we visited was great and walking distance to the nearby tourist areas. Good for taking photos.
