Go back in time and visit Leal Senado (Municipal Council), a World Heritage Site that once served as the seat of the Portuguese government during the colonial era. The "loyal senate" here is noted as having refused to accept Spanish authority during the Spanish occupation of Portugal. Constructed in 1784, the building features a smooth, structured Plain Portuguese style.
