A-Ma Temple (Ma Kok Miu), Macau

3.8
Standing for more than 500 years, A-Ma Temple (Ma Kok Miu) ranks among the oldest and most significant Taoist temples in Macau. The well-preserved structure, with its tasteful decorations and crowds of devoted worshippers, was built in 1488 to honor Matsu, the goddess of fishermen and seafarers. Composed of six main parts, including a gate pavilion, a memorial arch, and multiple halls, the complex has featured in ancient Chinese texts as well as paintings depicting Macau. The temple smells very strongly of incense, a pleasant aroma for most visitors, but one that can become overpowering for some. • This is the beginning of the history of Australia, the fire began to flourish. Tianzu is the god of many residents of southern China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and other places, and Australia is no exception.

  • Interesting small temple of great historical significance.
  • A Buddhist Temple in Macau dedicated to Sea Goddess Mazu. Probably Macau got its name from this temple . A Miniature Sheet with one stamp was issued on 29 April 1997 on this temple.
