Mountain · Hidden Gem · Hiking Trail
Challenge yourself with a hike up Tai Mo Shan, the highest peak of Hong Kong. Leave the city hustle and climb or drive all the way to the 957 meter (3139 feet) summit. The surrounding park is a wildlife haven, with a variety of bird and butterfly species. Trek the many scenic trails, with varying difficulty levels and different viewpoints offering stunning vistas of lush green plantations and surrounding islands. The coldest place in Hong Kong, this area sees snowfall during cold spells. Facilities such as campsites, grills, information centers, and toilets are available, but no cafes or restaurants, so bring your own food supplies. See Tai Mo Shan and all Hong Kong has to offer by arranging your trip with our Hong Kong trip itinerary maker app.

  • Hiked up steps from the Rotary Club Nature Trail kiosk for about one hour, with reward of magnificent views!  more »
  • (I’ve reviewed this as the peak itself on its own and have already given 5* to the Tai Mo Shan Country Park overall.) Given that this is the highest peak in HK, it’s a bit of shame that you cannot...  more »

  • It was the tallest mountain in my city! If its good weather, you could see rest of the areas, islands, villages and districts of Hong Kong up here, even the Mainland.
  • Very nice view with cherry blossom in autumn, suitable for professional climbers, look out for cow poo cause here is many on the floor in about 500 to 700 meters. Many stunning water fall. Do not walk when there is fog because it is quite hard to see the way and there may be wild dogs. Overall it is a great experience and worth a visit.
