Popularly known as the lake with a thousand islets, Hangzhou Qiandaohu National Forest Park offers a variety of activities. This man-made body of water features 1,078 islands surrounded by an enormous forest park and with Mt. Huangshan in the background. Following the numerous scenic walkways across the park filled with mulberry trees, you can visit a 12th-century quarry, intriguing caves, a fishing village, or a small zoo. Explore the lock museum, built on one of the islands, and shop for authentic hemp embroidery or handicrafts with pearls. A well-known Chinese mineral water brand comes from the lake.
