Colchagua Museum boasts exhibits for every age and taste, from cowboy gear and weapons, to religious artifacts and pre-Columbian pottery. Founded by controversial tycoon Carlos Cardoen, Chile's largest private museum also contains the capsule used to rescue 33 trapped miners in 2010. Other highlights include a collection of utensils and machines used in farming and the production of wine, and a room dedicated to Charles Darwin's Chilean period, hugely influential on his later thinking. It has samples from fossils to modern history, through the first American civilizations, the history of Chile, world wars, among many others of interest to know. Totally recommended, the entry price(7,000) is worth it for everything you have.
Excellent, excellent museum covering the whole history of Chile from prehistory up until the present, with especially impressive collections of precolumbian art, jewelry and tapestry. It's a private collection of impressive scale and quality. There are also fascinating exhibits on weapons, carriages and even the Chilean miner rescue of 2010. My whole family loved this museum
A very well organized review of many aspects of Chilean history from anthropology and archeology to war, church and modern functioning.
