See a piece of Chile's history at Parque del Estrecho de Magallanes, built in 1843 after the Republic of Chile took possession of the Magellan Strait and surrounding area. Named after the president at the time, the wooden fort was reconstructed in 1943 and has since opened to the public. Explore the complex, built entirely out of wooden logs, and see the church, jail, post office, a small museum, and old cannons. Standing on top of the small hill, you can enjoy the views of the rocky beach and sea below. • Really nice park, we saw it with the hike to the fort. The walk along the coast of the tip where the fort is located is beautiful, full of guided tours and very interesting also the museum. The only negative note is that it's a bit pricey considering it's not gigantic. Half a day is enough to visit it.

  • Excellent environment, and very well maintained, very good trails although not all yet open (01 September 2019). The museum excellent infrastructure and landscape vision but there is no more explanatory signs, it is all done to tour it with guidance and the guided schedules are not so followed.
