#1 of 18 in Museums in Magallanes Region
Named after one of the most famous ships in the history of navigation, Nao Victoria Museo features full-size replicas of historical ships, weapons, and ancient navigation tools, as well as an outdoor shipbuilding workshop. Nao Victoria was part of Ferdinand Magellan's fleet and the only ship of the five to complete the first trip around the globe. Interactive exhibits allow you to board the ships, handle the sailing rig, and relive the adventures of explorers such as Magellan, Williams, and Shackleton. On the decks life-size figures depict daily tasks--get up close and observe their costumes, muskets, and swords. Audio guides are available in six languages. • It's amazing to imagine how years and months spent above those boats! The only way to size the whole history of the colonization of tip sands is to visit the museum

  • It is one thing to see pictures of the boats used by the ancient navigators and another is to walk through the interior of the replica of the "Nao Victoria", fragile wooden ship, imagining how 43 men could live with horses and various animals with all his food for months overcrowded in that little space. It's amazing to imagine Ernest Shackleton sailing through the cold Antarctic waters in the Endurance that looks more like a yacht for a ride than a boat to sail in those icy waters. And the MV Ancud that arrived with its settlers from Chiloé, it is also not to believe it. As St. Thomas said, it is the "See to Believe", which makes this museum more interesting.

  • A must visit! I have always wonder the feeling of being side an old school ship... my god this is one locatuon that will take you back. You can walk on the ship and has access to everything inside. You become a crew member of the ship. They have so much information and so much to see. They charged around 6 dollars to get in. It's worth it!
  • A fun little museum which has a replica of Darwin’s ship. Kids can explore the whole ship. It definitely needs to be spruced up.
