The second largest lake in Chile, Lake Llanquihue tops many itineraries thanks to its stunning scenery. Covering 330 sq mi (860 sq km), the lake and the surrounding area offer plenty of space to take in the natural beauty on foot or aboard a tour boat. The lake also offers sweeping views of the 2,661 m (8,730 ft) tall Osorno Volcano and makes the nearby towns of Puerto Varas, Frutillar, and Puerto Octay hugely popular tourist destinations. Our Puerto Varas holiday website makes visiting Lake Llanquihue and other Puerto Varas attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

Puerto Varas is the largest, with some luxurious hotels on its waterfront and a gazebo on the Cerro Philippi. It's usually the base city of tourists. Frutillar Bajo is the place where you can eat some German and other foods typical of the region, a city grace (only the low part, because the upper part is a common city). Very photogenic. Llanquihue has an interesting orlinha also, with some sculptures and a good view of the Osorno volcano, if they are lucky. Puerto Octay is the least touristy of all, but the view from the cemetery is interesting. It is a city a little more degraded and can cause a certain bad impression, depending on the person. If you are driving, I recommend occasionally the lake instead of taking the Panamericana. They are beautiful roads, passing through fields and farms.
O lago é lindo aos pés do vulcão Osorno. A cidade de Frutillar é um ponto que deve ser visitado tanto pela beleza natural como pelas casas, igrejas e pelo teatro. more »The lake is beautiful at the foot of the Osorno volcano. The city of Frutillar is a point that must be visited both by the natural beauty and by the houses, churches and the theatre.
Amazing lake. It is peaceful, with breathtaking views. Its water temperature allows you to swim and the shallow depth, to be sure of children's safety. Sorrounded by two volcanoes, you can take incredible pictures at any time of day. Another important feature is that the northern road has many miles of cycle road.
You need more stars to express the beauty of this place. Puerto Varas itself is a beautiful town full of history. The lake is one if the top attractions but the Port is a lot more than that.
