  • I've been back home for months now but still excited about the great experience and no, I'm not exaggerating! At first we had a bit of a hard time booking, because it is a quite long crossing and several reviews are bad here. So we have already prepared ourselves for a boring, bad weather shipping, but on the contrary, it became a wonderful experience. The weather is of course a matter of luck and we were mostly lucky, but there were also hours with heavy cloud cover and rain. And you have to prepare for a rather old ship (but 2020 comes a new one!) and you can't expect a western 5-star cruise with ten varieties of raw milk cheese and champagne! Nevertheless, there is enough and delicious food for everyone in the canteen. Completely sufficient, fresh and everyone gets fed up. Due to the old ship, the cabins are quite habitable and have by no cruising standard (e.g. no TV). But everything is clean and the staff super nice and helpful. The staff also offers daily classes (e.g. yoga), film evenings and music screenings. But the highlight: the dreamlike, unspoilt nature through which you sail. Completely far away from the zvilisation you often do not encounter for hours any other ship, no house, no angle frames, no electricity mast - but you see great mountain formations, jungle, islands, bays and with luck also seals, whales, dolphins, albatrosses, etc. Just wow! Thank you for these wonderful days!

  • I made the trip from Puerto Montt to Puerto Chacabuco in the spring, which allowed me to enjoy a very pleasant weather and beautiful landscape, the Andes rosing at sunset on the sea will remain long in my memory. The Eden ship is quite old and it is a ferry, not an ocean liner. The cabin was quite small but clean, and had a functioning toilet. The meals were plentiful, good and served in the cafeteria, yes it's not a restaurant but it's not very serious, the cooks were concerned that the passengers were satisfied. The welcome on board was also particularly good and very jovial! We weren't many passengers (and half the truckers) and the staff seemed really happy to have us on board. The journey lasts precisely 24 hours, the ship departs in the morning from Puerto Montt and arrives in Puerto Chacabuco in the morning also which is convenient to reach Coyhaca without stress during the day. It is necessary to check in the day before departure, this is done on the ground floor of the only building in Puerto Montt, almost in front of the bus station. Only small points to improve, the address of the checkin is mentioned in the confirmation email but not its attachment that I had printed, and I foolishly sailed a little in Puerto Montt before finding Navimag. On the morning of departure, the staff arrived late at the rendezvous point which generates stress (will the ship leave without me?) especially since the schedule had been slightly shifted. In fact, I came across the staff as I went to get a taxi to reach the port, located 8 kilometers from Puerto Montt. Other than that, it's true that the ship does not offer alcohol but on a 24-hour trip, it's still acceptable ... Beautiful landscapes, friendly and welcoming staff, the pleasure of travelling slowly. A very good alternative to flying!

  • This is the Navimag ticket office. Dun go to the ferry pier. English spoken and very nice staff.
  • We took the Navimag Ferry from Puerto Montt to Puerto Natales beginning of December 2017. We booked beds in a shared 4 bed cabin for 450$. As the boat was not full (88 passengers) we got the cabin for ourselves, which was pretty nice. The cabins are really small, so if you are sharing with 4 people there is very little space for luggage. I recommend packing in a way that you can easily reach everything you need without unpacking. Don't take a bed in the 22 bed dorm, as you literally sleep in the hallway next to the bathrooms. Just spend the extra 50$ on a cabin. We really enjoyed the service on board. The food was very good and plenty. There is water and juice all day, but tea and coffee only during meal time, so if you want tea all day, bring a thermos. There is a cafeteria which sells coffee and snacks throughout the day for ok prices. No alcohol is sold or allowed on board, but it is easy to bring your own. Nobody checks and there is lots of space outside to watch sunset with a drink and noone bothers you. There were very nice nature talks and information on Torres del Paine every day, plus free Yoga classes, which was a real nice surprise. The staff were all very nice. Bathrooms could be a bit cleaner, but there was always hot water and you never had to wait for the shower. That said, we found the landscape less spectacular than we thought. It's nice, but you are kind of far away from the mainland and it's nothing compared to, for example, New Zealand fjords. All together, I recommend the tour. However, if you are low on time and/or money, it's not a must do. If you have to choose between the ferry and, for example, Torres del Paine, I would definitely opt for Torres.
