A visit to Chile's largest island would not be complete without observing hundreds of penguins in their natural habitat at Chiloe Island Penguin Colony. The two species of penguin here, Magellanic and Humboldt, migrate to the island in spring for breeding. You'll need to access the colony by boat, as the penguins reside on an island that acts as a reserve. Numerous operators organize motorboat tours here--many including a traditional lunch and other packages.
