Atacama Desert, Chile

4.5
#1 of 78 in Spas in Chile
Atacama Desert surprises and amazes with its landscape of giant dunes, imposing rock formations, spurting geysers, and huge salt pools mirroring the Andes. One of the driest places on the planet, the desert stretches along the Pacific coast against the backdrop of jagged mountain ridges and volcano-topped horizons. From San Pedro de Atacama you can take field trips to all the desert's attractions. Sandboard down the dunes in Death Valley, walk over the lunar landscape of Valley of the Moon, or float in a natural pool of salt water while admiring the views of Chile's largest salt flat. Cloudless nights and a lack of light pollution make the desert a perfect place to gaze at the stars. Make sure to hydrate and moisturize enough. Make Atacama Desert a centerpiece of your Chile vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Chile day trip planner .

  • The variety of places that can be visited I think is what stands out and each one is unique worldwide, you visit the plateau with lagoons and geysers, the Salar de Atacama with the beautiful flamingos in its natural environment. In short, views of unspoiled nature in 360 degrees, without words
