  • We decided it was time to visit the Rideau Canal for the first time in the winter to go skating. We were there during Ottawa’s Winterlude Festival. It was so much fun! There are places to sit along.....  more »

  • 5 of my best friends and I drove 7 1/2 hours to come and skate on the canal. It was an incredibly fun experience, some would say one of a lifetime. I am so impressed with how well the canal rink is maintained and for the general atmosphere created by skaters.
  • Such a great spot. The ice care today is so much better than it was years ago. I was there last week and recognized a family that had obviously come a long way to see the canal. It made me even more thankful that it's so accessible to locals'. I'll usually park about midway around Patterson's Creek or bank street. Love the posters under bank street bridge this year. I had no idea that Mr. Fullerton (previous chair of NCC in the 70's) is why we have the canal today.
