  • Fanshawe Pioneer Village recreates a rural Ontario village over a 100-year time span, including buildings and their furnishings or equipment. To accomplish this the buildings are co-located by period, and the map/brochure you are given suggests an order which will take you from the oldest to most recent. Many buildings have docents dressed in period attire who tell you about the buildings and answer questions. Everything is in restored condition, and you are welcome to explore the buildings and grounds all you want. They make it easy for you to imagine what life would have been like in those days. It was very interesting to see the changes between the periods and learn the reasons for them. Highly recommendable for school groups. There is so much to see and learn here that we spent an entire day. Food is available in the village, so you don't have to worry about leaving in order to get lunch. To find it you must first find Fanshawe Conservation Area northeast of London, Ontario (at 1424 Clarke Road), the follow the orange-colored directional signs.
  • We really enjoyed this trip with the grandchildren. It was both educational and fun. They had various games to play, and all the staff were very happy and kind. The young lady at the toll booth was exceptional, bubbly and kind. Overall, we had a great experience and we hope to go back! 5 stars!
