  • Right off the number 1 and the icefields Parkway is a beautiful little lake snuggled in the trees,a very short hike leads you to the shore where you will immediately be treated with stunning views of the lake the mountains and forest and it's exact duplicate reflecting on the water,Good hike for all ages with literally no incline or decline just sheer beauty,There is parking right at entrance to trail head.
  • Herbert Lake is a gorgeous and serene lake along the Icefields Parkway, with absolutely beautiful reflections on the glass-like surface of the water in the morning. I spent a full day driving the Icefields Parkway from Lake Louise to Jasper, making many stops along the way, on my solo road trip in summer of 2017. The first stop that I made was at Herbert Lake, just north of Lake Louise about ten minutes. There was a small pull-out area on the left side of the highway driving north to park. From the parking area, a narrow trail led a short ways through the woods and emerged on the shoreline of Herbert Lake. The lake was surrounded by forest and mountains and the scenery was stunning. The lake was so calm and the water looked like glass, with beautiful perfect reflections of the mountains and trees on the surface and mist wafting off the water. It was an incredible and magical place to photograph and I was the only person there at the time, making it so serene and tranquil. I think I saw a sign for a trail that circled around the lake’s perimeter, but I chose to just admire the natural beauty for a bit and then head back on the road. Herbert Lake is definitely worth stopping for (even just for ten minutes or so), especially if you’re there in the early morning when you can see the reflections and have the place to yourself. Would absolutely recommend stopping here, especially if you are driving through the area in the morning.
