Midland Provincial Park is a provincial park located in Alberta, Canada.

Once the site of the Midland Coal Mine, it was designated as a provincial park on June 5, 1979. It now hosts the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology. The Midland Coal Mine was the site of a large mining disaster in the mid-1920s; many men lost their lives in a mine explosion.

It is located 6 km west of Drumheller on Highway 838 (North Dinosaur Trail).

Activities in the park include canoeing, kayaking, fishing, wildlife viewing and hiking through willows and cottonwoods along the Red Deer River. Points of interest are fossil beds, a mine site and the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology.

  • Really boring and unkept. We'd just come from the Atlas Coal mine site and by comparison, this is truly a waste of time. Nothing remains. If you want to learn about coal mining, go to Atlas.  more »

  • This place was amazing. The view is absolutely stunning! If you have the time, take the hike down to the bottom. I didn't get the chance, and regret not being able to. Once you're done, take a walk over to the museum, as that was one of the highlights of our trip.
  • Really cool place. Mostly spent our time in BC and The Albertan side of the Rockies so to come out to this terrain was super cool. The rock formations and the hoodoos are spectacular. If your visiting Canada you should put this place on your list.
