Birkenhead Lake Provincial Park, Birken

Beautiful mountain lake with a nice day-use area. It's roughly 8 km down a dirt road to get to the lake, but it was totally worth it. We took our young children here for a picnic, and they had a blast. There is a grassy area, a beach, and picnic tables. There were only vault toilets, but that's expected because this place is kind of in the middle of nowhere. I wouldn't recommend the campground here. The sites were way too small and close together for my liking - - and way too close to the road. We'd come back here for another day trip though - - it's really picturesque.

A gorgeous lake! I highly recommend renting a canoe, and rowing out to the middle. Go and explore! Go and find the small freezing cold glacial melt waterfalls that feed this gorgeous and clear water.
