Phnom Bakheng, Siem Reap

3.4
The world-famous sunsets at Phnom Bakheng draw as many visitors as the historical temple itself. This temple mountain--a typical Angkor design representing Mt. Meru, birthplace of the Hindu gods--was the first of its kind in the city. It dates back to the 9th century, when it was built by King Yasovarman and dedicated to Shiva. The temple sits on a five-level base and has five towers, with 104 towers distributed evenly around the lower levels. Early morning remains the least-crowded time to visit the attraction; expect lots of visitors during the day, and especially during the spectacular sunsets. • The highest visitors point of interest: you can see miles into the beautiful countryside of Siem Reap! Great hike to the top of the hill ⛰️ and more heart exercising experiences to climb up to the heavenly vista peak of the ancient Temple 🕍! Don't forget to check into the best front row seats to catch the most spectacular views of Cambodia’s 🇰🇭 Sunrise 🌅 and Sunset: it's amazingly breathtaking views!!!! PLEASE TAKE NOTE.....!!!! Make sure to check your local timing for this once in a lifetime event - plan it right for the hike to the top! Relax and enjoy the view 🌅!!!! It's a ❗Wow Experience:
  • One of the coolest towers we visited. Was able to climb up to the very top, but be aware that it is very steep. Possibly not the safest climb and there are no safety things off any kind.
