ANM Khmer Market, Siem Reap

3.5
Some 200 bamboo huts open around sunset to sell a variety of souvenirs, handicrafts, and textiles at ANM Khmer Market, taking advantage of the cooler temperatures and nightlife in the Siem Reap neighborhood. The spot combines shopping for local goods with parties, bars, and foot spa or massage treatments. An internationally sponsored, non-profit initiative aimed at boosting Khmer handicrafts against Chinese mass-production, the market occupies a niche targeting tourists. Prepare for a hard bargain as you browse through locally woven silk paintings and puppets made of Chinese silk yam, or examine stone carvings displaying national motifs. The night market lies just a few blocks away from the Old Market, off Sivatha Boulevard. Take the guesswork out of planning a Siem Reap vacation by using our trip itinerary maker.

  • Great place to look around, shop around and get a nice smoothie as you browse the numerous shops. Haggle your heart out here because the retailers start at European/American retail store prices on every garment. Atleast want to bring them down to half of what they're asking. Show no shame in your game when shopping because you'll be eaten alive by the sellers. Don't believe a word that comes out of any of the sellers mouths. I even got one lady who got me to give her an extra dollar on an already agreed upon price because I had a $50. We agreed on $21 and said she only had a $20 note and $10 note. So I through in the extra $1. She gave me a $20 and 9 $1s back. Be careful here and don't put all your bread in one basket. Everyone speaks English until you want to call them out for their misdoings. Overall a cool place during the day or at night.
