Angkor Wat (; Khmer: អង្គរវត្ត, "City/Capital of Temples") is a Hindu temple complex in Cambodia and is the largest
religious monument in the world, on a site measuring 162.6 hectares (1,626,000 m2; 402 acres). Originally constructed as a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Vishnu for the Khmer Empire, it was gradually transformed into a Buddhist temple towards the end of the 12th century. It was built by the Khmer King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century in Yaśodharapura (Khmer: យសោធរបុរៈ, present-day Angkor), the capital of the Khmer Empire, as his state temple and eventual mausoleum. Breaking from the Shaiva tradition of previous kings, Angkor Wat was instead dedicated to Vishnu. As the best-preserved temple at the site, it is the only one to have remained a significant religious centre since its foundation. The temple is at the top of the high classical style of Khmer architecture. It has become a symbol of Cambodia, appearing on its national flag, and it is the country's prime attraction for visitors.
Angkor Wat combines two basic plans of Khmer temple architecture: the temple-mountain and the later galleried temple. It is designed to represent Mount Meru, home of the devas in Hindu mythology: within a moat more than 5 kilometres (3 mi) long and an outer wall 3.6 kilometres (2.2 mi) long are three rectangular galleries, each raised above the next. At the centre of the temple stands a quincunx of towers. Unlike most Angkorian temples, Angkor Wat is oriented to the west; scholars are divided as to the significance of this. The temple is admired for the grandeur and harmony of the architecture, its extensive bas-reliefs, and for the numerous devatas adorning its walls.
Angkor Wat Japanese Guide Tom Reviews
ラインでやりとりしていたお優しいお人柄そのままで、安... more »I booked a guide to Tom, who I found on the Internet about two years ago. However, at that time, the area where I live was hit by the eruption of the mountain, and the airplane did not fly, and the airport stopped. It has been canceled suddenly. But warmly cuddle up to me After that, they cared about me. Travel has a lot of timing, so it was difficult to go there, but it was finally realized after about two years. As it is a gentle personality that was exchanged in the line, cheap ...
①レクサスでのドライバー付き... more »My wife and I had an Angkor Wat for the first day. I asked the local tour company I asked for last time to take a personal guide all day long on New Year's Day seven months ago, but this day is the day that Japanese visit the most, so it can only be received in a small group, and it is the same in others. Then, I found Tom and contacted him, and i decided immediately by reply that I could ask for a personal guide from early morning to night on New Year's Day. As a result, it was "outstanding". Incredible Temple. The amount of history here can be explored for days and it’s definitely worth a visit. Go all the way to the top, you get amazing views from there. It is absolutely massive so allow at least 2 hours for the visit and bring some water. Be prepared to walk for a few kilometres and up and and down steep stairs. Have fun!
A visit here provides a ever lasting spiritual experience. If possible, try to arrive so that you can see the sun rise over this wonderful site. In order to fully explore and appreciate these wonderful monuments allow yourself plenty of time, take lots of fluids, sun screen etc as the sun is unrelenting.
