Take an evening walk to Pedra do Arpoador to see a spectacular change of colors as the sun sets over the calm ocean. This part of the coast is noted for being one of the finest urban surfing spots in the country, with a rock outcrop famous for creating breakers up to 3 m (10 ft) high. Keep in mind that because of its metropolitan location, the beach does get extremely crowded with very competitive surfers. Strong riptides allow a very small take-off point, so only locals and visiting experts have a real shot at surfing here. Casual tourist can enjoy views of the beach from a long seaside pathway, which is dotted with small alfresco cafés, where you sit down for a relaxing meal at sunset. De segunda a quinta é o paraiso!!! Não aconselho ir nos finais de semana! Acesso a pé, mas vale a pena a caminhada que pode ser a beira mar ou no calçadão. more »From Monday to Thursday it's paradise!!! I don't advise going on weekends! The location is famous because of the beautiful view of the ocean and some islands, and also by the view of Ipanema Beach and Leblon Beach, having as the backdrop of this scenario , behind Leblon, the two brothers and Pedra da Gávea Hill.
Five stars for being a natural area that provides a sensational panoramic view. Site that should be included in the tourist itinerary list, mainly to enjoy the sunset. Take certain precautions regarding local security. On rocks it is dangerous, especially in heights. Children should be present from their parents. The place and the view is beautiful, I also emphasize the precautions.
It is really smelly and shady getting to the top. They have rescue cats up here but I didn't see any. The view is very good and it was fun to walk down Ipanema beach and then scale this rock face. We then walked on towards Copacabana beach. Be careful and be aware of your surroundings here.
