Lively Copacabana Beach features warm waters and a wide stretch of white sand, with numerous hotels, restaurants, bars, and night clubs dotting its promenade. You can swim, play sports, relax on the sand, enjoy freshly-caught fish delicacies, and soak up the atmosphere of one of Brazil’s most popular tourist destinations. The beach is policed and lit all through the night, so it’s always abuzz with hundreds of visitors, musicians, and food vendors. Take a leisurely sunset walk on the beach’s iconic walkway, and stay late to see locals singing, dancing, and playing footvolley right on the water’s edge. Remember to always swim where the locals do, and leave all your valuables at the hotel. Copacabana Beach Reviews
From the locals: " Do not walk near seaside, hard to see if you get attacked) This summarized our trip to Copacabana * We have been scared off so much from what we read and what locals told us so didn... more »
Fui em 2 reveillons nesta praia e é simplesmente maravilhosa!! A faixa de areia é extensa, então há espaço para todos, sem ficar aquela muvuca de guarda sol amontoado. The strip of sand is extensive, so there is room for everyone, without getting that muvuca of Sunguard cramed. The sea is brave and the waves break mto strong in the sand, so do not advise to bring children. Mto dangerous. The ambulants are a spectacle of the part. Super Nice. At night the beach is lit, so those who like to bathe in the sea, is quiet. The waterfront is delicious to stroll through the night. Always MTO busy and not only in high season, PQ already went in winter and TBM was full. Love!!!!
I hate to rate a beach so low as the rating reflects only on a negative experience I had. 1 man tried to distract my friend whilst another leaned over from behind me and tried to grab my phone, I didn't let go and got dragged from the bench. Police were maybe 200m away. Don't take any valuables, keep tour phone hidden and your wits about you. Hopefully Rio are trying to combat this issue.
Copacabana beach is everything you'd expect it to be...a 4 kilometre beach stretch absolutely bustling with everything from vacationers to locals out to have a good time to beach hawkers selling everything from bikinis to local artefacts. The water is clean and the tide (at least in December) is mild enough to swim in. Loved it.
