Sao Goncalo Beach, Paraty

You always get an attractive landscape when a river meets the sea, and this beach is no exception, with Rio Gonçalo emerging from the dense vegetation and cutting through the sand as it makes its way to the ocean. To access the beach, you have to walk, swim, or take a kayak across this channel, depending on the tide. Once on Sao Goncalo Beach, you will find white sand, clear waters, palm trees, native foliage, and few people. The length of the beach makes for a nice stroll, where you can admire its untouched beauty. From the beach, take a boat tour to one of the three islands protecting the coastline from the ocean beyond. The most popular, Ilha do Pelado Grande, has four pristine beaches, clear waters to snorkel in, a shallow mineral water source, and two bars to keep you entertained.
