Even before you have seen the huge array of delicious groceries available at Casa do Colono your mouth will be watering, thanks to the smell of freshly baked bread wafting down the street. Set up as a cooperative, you can buy homemade produce, including salami, cheese, pasta, and local wine, from the members of the Italian and German communities who, historically, settled in Gramado. Next to the shop you will see the traditional clay ovens, where individuals showcase their skills baking breads, cakes and cookies native to their homelands. The locals willingly queue and so should you, the “hotdogs” are particularly excellent, especially when eaten warm in the beautiful Praça das Comunicações. Make Casa do Colono part of your personalized Gramado itinerary using our Gramado route planning website .

  • The place is quite different: an open bakery! The smell goes far! But it's pretty cool and the banana cuckoa is delicious. I didn't eat the bread with sausage, but I was at ease. I'd rather leave it to try another day.

  • Going to Gramado and not enjoying the homemade breads and cuckoas that come out of the oven all the time is not to enjoy the full experience. The ovens are next to Casa do Colono, within the Square of Ethnicities. The taste and smell are indescribable and all for a very affordable price. I indicate a lot the cuckoa of sweet milk and bread with sausage. Great option for tourists who will stay in places without fixed breakfast. It's really worth buying cedinho to take home.
