Andricgrad, Visegrad

Andricgrad , also known as Stonetown, is a cultural, administrative, and educational complex built by film director Emir Kusturica and dedicated to Yugoslav novelist and Nobel prize winner Ivo Andric. The town's architecture is a mixture of various historical periods and styles--Ottoman, Byzantine, Renaissance, and Classicist. Pass the main gate to the pedestrian street, which features a souvenir shop, gallery, jewelry store, bank, bookstore, cafes and restaurants. Notice how a caravanserai, a Turkish roadside inn, stands next to a Byzantine palace. The concept of the project is to show how the town of Visegrad would have looked if all of the town's rulers had invested more into it.
