Framed by prominent political buildings, Plaza Murillo is a centuries-old square in the heart of the Old Town. Designed in 1558, the plaza will give you a good look at the city’s history, from pre-colonial times to the current day. You can take in the presidential palace, the national congress of Bolivia, and the cathedral of La Paz. The plaza is known by several different names, like Plaza Mayor, Plaza de Armas, and Plaza 16 de Julio, so locals may use any of these names when telling you about it or giving you directions. This is a nice square with governmental buildings. One of the buildings has a clock that with reversed time. A good photo stop especially with the many pigeons in the plaza. more »

The park is small but very pleasant and suitable for tourists. It serves as a starting point for different excursions. The city should have more such small parks, otherwise the mood is quite bleak. more »

Very small plaza but very iconic place for La Paz. There were many people hanging around. Good to see local people while having mate. The statue covered by pigeons.. I went to New Year’s Day, so lots of families and kids were around.
