Dedicated to Bolivia's cultures from pre-Colombian to present times, National Museum of Ethnography and Folklore displays the country's fascinating native peoples through expansive art exhibits. Collections vary in theme from pottery to traditional masks, and include a textile display spanning 3,000 years. Altogether, the museum holds over 30,000 cultural items and boasts one of the largest document collections in the country. Plan my La Paz trip by asking Inpirock to come up with tips and suggestions.

  • Small but underrated museum. Costs 20 BOB for foreigners to enter and an extra 20 BOB to take photos. The masks gallery was the highlight but feathers section also lovely. Captions are only in Spanish. Staff are very friendly.
  • What a beautiful way to learn about the rich history of weaving, textiles, the significance of the clothing worn by the Indigenous peoples of Bolivia! Highly recommended.
