Duesberg, do it without hesitation. An exciting man who knows on the fingertips the thousands of objects that are presented in his showcases and that will give you lots of explanations.
Accueil courtois par le baron Duesberg propriétaire des collections avec qui nous avons pu sympathisé et qui nous a fait découvrir les richesses de ses collections grâce à son érudition . Les horloges... more »Courteous welcome by Baron Duesberg, owner of the collections with whom we were able to sympathized and who made us discover the riches of his collections thanks to his erudition. The old clocks are really beautiful and very well presented.
Breathtaking Museum of history and wealth. The staff is very friendly and the Baron is available to inform us. A must see.
Check before you move if the Museum is still open (the newspapers of 4/6/2018 announce the closing of the Musée de Rendezvous!) Entrance by 2, rue de la Houssière (the Street towards the station). Inaccessible to people with reduced mobility (stairs). Baron François Duesberg and his wife, Baroness Betty Duesberg, have created a collection of neo-classical decorative art that is quite exceptional: they are French gilded bronzes (especially pendulums with animalier, historical motifs, literary,..., porcelain (Paris and Brussels), goldsmiths, jewellery,... from the period 1775-1825 (from Louis XVI to the restoration through the Napoleonic era). Since 1994, the former headquarters of the National Bank of Belgium has been hosting the pieces that they have finally given end 2017 to a public utility Foundation that now bears their name (Although everything does not seem to be definitively settled!). It will be regretted, however, that the exhibits are crammed into the storefronts and that the explanations are scarce (for whom a donor-guided visit does not). A beautifully illustrated book, sold at an advantageous price of €30 only, partially fills this gap. Photographs only by permission of Baron Duesberg. Note that other pieces of the Duesberg collection are to be seen at the Grand Curtius (Musée Liégeois).
