Hoge Kempen National Park (Nationaal Park Hoge Kempen) is the first National Park in Flanders, Belgium. It is located in the Campine in the East of the Province of Limburg, between Genk and the Meuse River (Dutch: Maas) Valley. It includes the elevated ground that defines the watershed between that river and the low ground of the drainage basin of the Demer river that covers most of Belgian Limburg.

  • Beautiful park with many walking routes! Occasionally we found the signage confusing (at the start of our route), but for the rest it went pretty well. Make sure you take a picture of the map at the start.
  • Very nice natural park, well signalised and easy to access. It is relatively close to Maastricht, so it is the perfect place for a day trip by bike. There is a lot of wildlife and some interesting lagoons with many different kinds of birds.
