Burg Square, Bruges

4.7
Landmark · Tourist Spot
It's hard to miss Burg Square, the site of the city hall and bustling cafes. The attraction has been an administration hub since its construction. The 1376 city hall building is known as one of the Bruges' most beautiful landmarks, but it has some competition in the square with Charlemagne's cathedral and the Renaissance civil registry. In fact, almost every era of European architecture is represented in the surrounding buildings. Sit down at one of the cafes to people-watch against the backdrop of grandiose buildings and monuments. Put Burg Square and other Bruges attractions into our Bruges travel route builder website, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • This square was on my bucket list, and it didn't disappoint. The architecture is amazing! You can stroll around and look at the shops and cafes, or you can take a horse drawn carriage ride!  more »
  • Bruges is such a charming city: cobblestone streets, 17th century buildings, beautiful scenery along the canals, Christmas market, and hundreds of Catholic Churches. Mass at the Basilica of the Holy.....  more »

  • Please we don't need more tourist. Go to Antwerp or Ghent. It's too crowded. If you read this and your planning to come. Please don't. Ghent is practically the same and has a better nightlife.
  • Just wow. Stunning architecture with amazing history. The site of an old cathedral which was destroyed in a past war. This is easily one of the most gorgeous places in the whole of Bruges. As you can see, it’s an ideal place for a Christmas celebration as well. It’s truly a gorgeous spot.
