Mir Castle, Mir

#1 of 68 in Things to do in Grodno Region
Must see · World heritage site · Castle · Tourist Spot
The present form of Mir Castle testifies to its turbulent history. Gothic, Baroque, and Renaissance influences blend harmoniously to create this World Heritage-listed monument. The complex features exhibits, embankments, parks, ponds, and a chapel with the tomb of the last owner. View the reconstruction of the mid-18th century Rococo interior in the portrait hall and then rent an audio guide to learn more about the castle's history. You can taste some local cuisine at a restaurant in the basement. Amenities include a hotel and a gift shop. Be prepared to climb a lot of steep, narrow, winding stairways. For travelers who use our online itinerary creator, Mir holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Mir Castle and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • Magnificent place. Mir Castle is a place that is currently the hallmark of our Belarus, and in the past - a serious defensive fortification. Definetly worth visiting.  more »
  • Stunningly beautiful castle. Very nice exhibits. Well maintained. Excellent restaurant inside the castle.  more »
  • Located near Minsk - an hour away. Very beautiful outside - well maintained, clean. An interesting exposition. Part of the chambers is destroyed, and this exposes the scope of the structure. Two towers with stunningly narrow and steep stairs - if there are a lot of visitors, it will not be easy to disperse. But you can feel like a medieval defender of the castle :) There is a restaurant and hotel on the territory - if you really like it, you can delve into the history of Mir Castle and eat well.
  • This is a really interesting castle for anyone! I am really happy I decided to go to the castle and learn more about the history of the region. It was well worth getting the audio guide! Their is too much stuff to simply read and get through. The curators did an amazing job allowing people to go through the different towers of the castle and having people explore the castle. It was really fun to climb through the different stairs and levels. Beware for the tall people the stairs were made for smaller men!
